Ramsay-Hunt syndrome in HIV patient

Introduction Ramsay-Hunt syndrome type (SRH) II is defined by the combination of herpes zoster oticus to acute peripheral facial nerve paralysis, described in 1907 James Ramsay Hunt. Reactivation latent varicella-zoster virus geniculate ganglion will cause SRH, resulting inflammation, edema, and compression VII cranial pair. However, involvement, turn development manifests less than 1% infected patients. It second most common atraumatic palsy (PFP) has an incidence 5 cases/100,000 people, with no sex predilection. Currently, SRH classically as a triad otalgia, ipsilateral vesicles near ear canal; however, motor, sensory, autonomic impairment when combined result diverse neurological damage may different symptoms, its diagnosis mainly clinical. Goal To report case HIV patient associated SHR, seen IIER between May June/2022. Case Report Male, 49 years old, sought care on 05/20/22 hospital complaints vertigo intense headache, nausea vomiting onset symptoms one day ago. His personal history was HIV+, diagnosed 2013 under regular treatment. On 5/25/22 resurfaced same conjunction appearance erythematous painful vesicle right auricular region edema flushing association PFP symptoms. 05/30/22 he returned clinic before, magnetic resonance imaging temporal bones done, showing inflammatory process through contrast at bottom internal auditory canal suggestive Bell's Palsy.
